Hi, and welcome to my blog! It seemed fitting to have my first post be my first session of the year, not only because it makes sense chronologically, but because I absolutely adored it! Engagement session in DUMBO, need I say more?
Couples in love are one of my favorite things to photograph. The beginning of relationships and engagements are always so exciting and passionate, with so much to look forward to. I may also be a little bit in love with love itself. But, enough about me. Let’s focus on the couple at hand here: Brittany and Alex.
Originally from the South, the pair took a weekend trip to NYC for New Year’s weekend to celebrate their recent engagement. They were staying in Brooklyn so we decided that DUMBO would be the ideal backdrop for their session, what with its funky cobblestone streets, the breathtaking Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge, and of course, that famous NYC skyline.
It was the second day of 2017, a bit chilly and damp, but their love shone through it all and this lovely, fun couple managed to bring some color to an otherwise dreary January day.
We started at Brooklyn Roasting Company where I indulged in the most delicious hot chocolate (one of my guilty pleasures) and the couple fueled up on coffee. From there, we wandered the streets of Brooklyn looking for interesting backdrops and colorful scenes to lift us up on that cold Monday. There were pretzels to be had—when in New York…—and red umbrellas to be found. Brittany and Alex were full of energy, happiness, love, and laughter, and I couldn’t have asked for better subjects. Brittany mentioned to me that she wanted to dance the night away during her wedding, so we took some practice twirls on the sidewalks of DUMBO. Alex happily obliged his beautiful bride to be, and as you can see from the pictures, it was smiles all around for this sweet couple.
Below, some of my faves from this session.
